Rumors suggested that the New York Jets would not be interested in taking controversial Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby in the NFL's supplemental draft, but the latest ruling from the league will prevent the gambling scandal-laden prospect from even coming into the pros at this time.

The NFL announced that it would not hold a supplemental draft in 2026, which means that Sorsby will need to wait until the 2027 NFL Draft to make his entry into the pros. By the time that comes around, a Jets team that will head into that draft with three first-round picks will have likely found someone else to target.

Sorsby's arm talent is likely not going to be enough to get many teams out there to believe in him as a franchise leader. The Jets should take a look at these five prospects instead, none of whom have the baggage Sorsby does.

5 non-Brendan Sorsby prospects Jets can pick in 2027 NFL Draft

5. CJ Carr, Notre Dame

Carr's ultra-efficient passing as a redshirt freshman (9.4 yards per attempt) lit up the scoreboard in South Bend, and the gold domer's strong arm could be enough to dissuade the Jets from concerns about a lack of reps and mobility.

4. LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina

Even after a down year, Sellers' athleticism and rocket launcher of a right arm will get him picked very high. The Jets' selection of Cade Klubnik suggests they could take a player like Sellers, as they like the highs more than they dislike the lows.

3. Darian Mensah, Miami

Mensah is a little skinny and doesn't have the strongest arm, but his combination of productivity and deep accuracy could help him shoot up draft boards if he replaces Carson Beck to an effective degree. Mensah's lack of elite traits will need to be overcome.

2. Dante Moore, Oregon

One year after leaving the Jets at the altar, Moore may end up in New York anyway. The arm, short accuracy, and processing in the pocket all stand out, though he needs to improve his playmaking outside of the pocket if he wants to get some QB1 hype.

1. Arch Manning, Texas

Manning started his college career in a concerning way, but he really turned things up later in the campaign. With more mobility than the elder members of his family, yet keeping the accuracy down the field, Manning is currently in the pole position for the QB1 title.
