The New York Jets will likely be in the market for their next franchise quarterback during the 2027 NFL Draft, though it remains to be seen if they will take their swing in the middle of the first round after a surprising season or at the top if everything crashed and burned. If the latter comes to pass, the Arch Manning hype will reach its apex.
The Texas star is one of the top signal-callers in a very deep 2027 class that many experts believe can land as many as five or six first-round prospects. Manning's name recognition will lead to fan bases all over the league begging for him to be their next savior, and the Jets could pull the trigger if all their offseason moves fail to result in wins.
Both ESPN's Jordan Reid and Matt Miller ranked Manning as the No. 1 prospect in this class, showing there is plenty of steak to go with the sizzle his last name provides him. There's a good portion of this Jets fanbase that is already dooming and glooming hard, and with Manning as the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, the reasoning at least makes some sense.
Jets NFL Draft target Arch Manning ranked as QB1 in 2027
The 6-4, 219-pound Manning threw for 26 touchdowns against just seven interceptions last season. Arch is much more mobile than either of his uncles, rushing for 10 touchdowns. The arm, pocket presence, and deep accuracy are everything Jets fans want to see from their next quarterback.
However, his play started to tail off against better SEC opponents, and his footwork is still a mess to the point where he will miss some easy layup throws. Manning may need a year of seasoning before he takes over in New York.
Landing Manning would be some sweet serendipity for the Jets. The family has long been very picky about possible destinations for their gunslinging stars. On top of Eli Manning leaving the then-San Diego Chargers at the altar, Peyton Manning went back for his senior year rather than being taken by the Jets at No. 1 in 1997.
If the Jets miss out on Manning, both Reid and Miller agree that Oregon's Dante Moore, who many expected to be the No. 2 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft had he declared, ranks as QB2. Reid and Miller named Miami's Darian Mensah, Notre Dame's CJ Carr, and Oklahoma State's Drew Mestemaker to round out the top five.
