Now that the 2026 NFL Draft has come and gone, all eyes turn to the 2027 draft class, which is supposed to be a generational class featuring more blue-chip prospects than what we saw this past April.

The New York Jets are in the unique position of holding three first-round picks in that draft, more than any other team.

It's fairly obvious they're going to be targeting a quarterback. They don't have a long-term plan in place behind Geno Smith, and weren't able to get their hands on Ty Simpson in the 2026 NFL Draft. With all of the prospects expected to come out in 2027, who could they end up landing?

Of course, we don't know the draft and won't know it until January of next year, but ESPN's recent 2027 mock draft projects the Jets to land Oregon quarterback Dante Moore.

2027 mock draft has Jets landing Dante Moore, who passed on the draft this year

In Jordan Reid's 2027 mock draft, he has the Jets landing Moore with the No. 3 overall pick, and two blue-chip defenders with the Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers/Dallas Cowboys pick in Oklahoma DT David Stone and Alabama CB Zabien Brown.

"Despite being mocked as a high first-round pick in early 2026 projections, Moore decided to return to school and expand on his 20 career starts. He was one of the best passers in the country last season, finishing with 3,565 passing yards, 30 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions. He's a smooth operator but must do a better job of withstanding pressure, as his accuracy tends to wane when defenses hit him early."

Moore didn't spurn the Jets specifically before opting not to declare for the 2026 draft (and if he did, he likely will never say it publicly), but Moore probably would've been the No. 2 overall pick had he been available in this past draft.

Instead, in this mock, New York ends up landing him in 2027 anyway, with Arch Manning going No. 1 overall to the Arizona Cardinals and the Miami Dolphins opting for Ohio State star WR Jeremiah Smith at No. 2.

In his first full season as a starter at Oregon last year, Moore completed 71.8% of his passes for 3,565 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He's raw and certainly needs more development, which is why he's back in Oregon for another season.

But with another year of starting experience under his belt, Moore may be just the right guy to eventually take the reins of the Jets franchise, and hopefully be the quarterback to finally give New York their long-term signal caller.
