Heading into Week 12 Fantasy Football action, running back Bilal Powell is a safe sit in the grand scheme of things.

In Week 12, the New York Jets welcome the New England Patriots to MetLife Stadium for another AFC East division rivalry game. Make no mistake about it, the Jets will more than likely lose this game against the Patriots since they’ve been playing some of the most inconsistent football you’ll see this season. Should fantasy football owners even consider starting running back Bilal Powell this week?

Considering the Jets will more than likely limit the damage that quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick can do, expect to see them heavily run the football against the Patriots. It’s the only conceivable option the Jets have that might actually see them have a shot in winning.

Then again, these are the Jets we’re talking about and it wouldn’t be surprising if they decided to depend again on the weak arm of Fitzpatrick to get the job done. When it comes to fantasy football, however, Powell more than likely won’t see much action in this matchup.

Considering that the Jets will more than likely give the majority of rushing attempts to running back Matt Forte, it’s not worth wasting a spot on Powell this week. In Week 10 he only got four rushing attempts and in Week 9 just six.

Even though he did score a touchdown in Week 10 against the Los Angeles Rams, it was on a trick play, not necessarily because the Jets gave him a ton of reps to score. At the end of it all, it’s best to stay away from Powell this week and use another RB2 option for your fantasy football lineups.

At a time where the fantasy football season is coming to the final few weeks of the season, it’s imperative to not take risks on players that won’t deliver. Powell falls in this category and unfortunately, should sit this week.
