As a full slate of football games are finally upon us today, fantasy football owners would be wise to double check their final lineups due to injuries. It’s always good to know which players missed the majority of practice earlier this week and have backup players ready to step in and take care of business.

Always be mindful of backups and players that might see an increase in reps due to injuries to starters. It’s not easy to keep track of every injury but I’ve gathered the most important ones for Week 9.

Remember, this is the period where fantasy teams can go from pretenders to contenders based on the health of their impact players and sleeper picks. Make sure to keep an eye on any final news on players that are game time decisions and add some extra players now just in case. You don’t want to be locked out of making final changes if it’s too late.

Without further ado, here are the top fantasy injuries by position for this week!

Next: 4. Quarterbacks

4. Quarterbacks

During the beginning of the week, Cody Kessler was questionable after a Week 8 concussion. Kessler has been cleared from concussion protocol and has been named this week’s starting quarterback.

Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson were also listed as questionable. The two quarterbacks have played through injuries for a few weeks now.

Due to limited practice, the two found themselves on this week’s questionable list. Since then, the two have been removed from the list and are ready to start.

As for Ben Roethlisberger, he’s still listed questionable. Roethlisberger practiced this week but, head coach Mike Tomlin wouldn’t state if Roethlisberger would be starting this week. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him suit up, it’s just a matter of whether to trust him in your fantasy football lineup or not.

Questionable

Ben Roethlisberger (Pittsburgh Steelers)

Out

Alex Smith (Kansas City Chiefs), Tony Romo (Dallas Cowboys)

Filler Options

Trevor Siemian, Case Keenum, Marcus Mariota

Next: 3. Tight Ends

3. Tight Ends

Jimmy Graham had aggravated his knee but, has been removed from the last injury report. Even with limited practice, his Monday night status isn’t anything to worry about.

Julius Thomas has battled an ankle injury for a few weeks. Although he hasn’t practiced over the weeks and didn’t practice this past Wednesday, he was a full participant Thursday and Friday. This indicates Thomas is a go for this week’s fantasy football owners!

Unfortunately, other owners aren’t so lucky. There are a couple of questionable players and two tight ends listed out. As always, just because they’re starting doesn’t mean they’re 100 percent; choose wisely.

Questionable

Dwayne Allen (Indianapolis Colts), Charles Clay (Buffalo Bills)

Out

Hunter Henry (San Diego Chargers), Jared Cook (Green Bay Packers)

Filler Options

Travis Kelce, Kyle Rudolph, Jason Witten

Next: 2. Running Backs

2. Running Backs

Devontae Booker injured his shoulder in last week’s game. After pushing through the game, he was examined and put on limited practice. Booker returned to practice Friday, and has been removed from this week’s injury report.

Matt Forte appears on the injury report every week. Part of his regimen is limited practice on Wednesday’s which adds him to the weekly report. But, he’s back at full practice Thursday and Friday, and his questionable status has been cleared.

Other running backs aren’t so lucky. Not only do we lose a few good ones to a bye but, some are questionable and a few are even sitting out this week!

Questionable

Carlos Hyde (San Francisco 49ers), LeSean McCoy (Buffalo Bills), Jerick McKinnon (Minnesota Vikings), Theo Riddick (Detroit Lions),

Out

Spencer Ware (Kansas City Chiefs), James Starks (Green Bay Packers), Thomas Rawls (Seattle Seahawks)

Filler Options

Terrance West, Derrick Henry, Duke Johnson Jr.

Next: 1. Wide Receivers

1. Wide Receivers

Over the last two weeks, Ty Montgomery was the talk of fantasy football. Owners hurried to put in a claim for Montgomery only to find out he wouldn’t even play in Week 8.

Montgomery was dealing with an illness we later found out was related to sickle-cell. He was limited in practice all week, but the coaches and team are confident he’s fine. Montgomery has been removed from all injury reports.

Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham Jr. were both listed questionable with hip injuries. Both of their Week 8 bye, allowed them to treat, recover and relax all injuries. Brown and Beckham have both been removed without any concern for fantasy football owners.

Other players that were removed from this week’s injury list were Marvin Jones, Brandon Marshall, T.Y. Hilton, Terrelle Pryor Sr. and Corey Coleman. Most of these players miss a practice weekly and usually are good to go by the weekend.

This week there are also a ton of questionable players. Most of them are going to be fine for Week 9 but remember a healthy player is a better fantasy football player. Keep track of their status up until game time to make the best out of your weekly lineup.
