Jets announce High School Coach of Week 4

Throughout the regular season, the New York Jets will announce their High School Coach of the Week and also donate to their football program.

The New York Jets have officially named Keith Hellstern of Fairfield College Preparatory School in Connecticut as the Week 4 recipient of this amazing award. Below is the official transcript sent to The Jet Press courtesy of the Media Relations Department of the Jets about Keith earning this honor as we congratulate him!

The Jets are proud to announce that Coach Hellstern of Fairfield College Preparatory School has been named this week’s recipient of the New York Jets High School Coach of the Week award presented by Chase. Through Chase’s partnership, the monetary award to benefit the school’s football program has doubled to $2,000. Coach Hellstern will be presented with a certificate and award football.  In addition, he is invited to watch the New York Jets play the Buffalo Bills on January 1st in Chase’s suite at MetLife Stadium.

In its 21st year, the Coach of the Week award is given to a coach in the Tri-State area who serves the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals. Those that aid in the motivation of young players to achieve and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to their community, their school, and their student-athletes.

Coach Hellstern is an alumnus of Glen Ridge High School in New Jersey, where he won all-conference and all-area honors playing offensive and defensive line.

After graduation, Hellstern started four years at Wesleyan University in CT, winning the conference championship in his senior year.

The former lineman has coached on both the collegiate and high school levels for 18 years.

Coach Hellstern is in his seventh season coaching at Fairfield Prep and second season as head coach of the program.  In addition to his coaching duties, Hellstern teaches social studies.

On Friday, September 23rd, the Fairfield Prep Jesuits defeated the Hillhouse Bulldogs, 40-18, going 3-0 for the season. Coach Hellstern put up a brilliant game plan that saw the Jesuits leave this game victorious.
