The NY Jets won for just the second time since the end of September, taking home a pulse-pounding 32-25 win against a Jacksonville Jaguars team that gave New York every opportunity to get in the win column after Mac Jones melted down in a bad fourth quarter.
The Jets are currently on the outside of the top five in the 2025 NFL Draft, which could make it difficult for them to turn the page on the Aaron Rodgers era. Luckily, the Jets are still in a position to possibly land a player who could emerge as an immediate long-term contributor for whoever is the coach.
The most recently updated NFL Draft order has the Jets behind their local rivals, any GM worth their salt should be able to make a big-name addition with this level of draft ammunition.
Updated 2025 NFL Draft order after NY Jets defeat Jaguars
1. New York Giants (2-12)
2. Las Vegas Raiders (2-11)
3. New England Patriots (3-11)
4. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-11)
5. Carolina Panthers (3-11)
6. Tennessee Titans (3-11)
7. Cleveland Browns (3-11)
8. New York Jets (4-10)
9. Chicago Bears (4-9)
10. New Orleans Saints (5-9)
This order is far from finalized. The Raiders still have to play on Monday Night Football, and the Bears still have to play the Minnesota Vikings later tonight as well. The Jets are still in position for a top-10 pick after such a rancid 2024 season.
The Jets are behind at least four teams who could conceivably take a quarterback in 2024. The Giants and Raiders are almost mortal locks to start over with new quarterbacks, while the Titans and Browns could look for alternatives to Will Levis and Deshaun Watson, respectively.
Many Jets fans may be upset with this, especially with a new head coach and GM coming to put their stamp on things. However, in a poor quarterback class with Rodgers playing better of late, the idea of running it back with everyone else coming back could get a bit more steam in recent weeks.
The Jets are still bad, but they can feel some morsel of positivity after taking down an inferior opponent on the back of Rodgers and Adams looking like their old selves. The draft order is a blow for those who want to tank, but it's not the end of the world.
