The Jet Press Podcast: NY Jets OTAs, Joe Douglas conspiracy, Amari Cooper rumors

In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano discuss the arrival of New York Jets OTAs, recent comments from Garrett Wilson and Quinnen Williams, Joe Douglas' new job, Amari Cooper rumors, and more.

The show started with a discussion about the latest comments made by certain members of the Jets organization following the team's first open-media OTA session of the spring on Wednesday.

Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson insisted that he wants to be a "Jet for life," while Quinnen Williams expressed remorse for his "immature" comments following Aaron Rodgers' departure in February. Justin and Mike gave their takes on both remarks.

The conversation then shifted to Douglas, who was officially hired by the Philadelphia Eagles in a "senior scouting role" this week. In a conspiratorial twist, Douglas will now have the opportunity to benefit from the disastrous Haason Reddick trade he made last offseason.

Five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper remains a free agent as we approach the end of May. Cooper, along with fellow veteran Keenan Allen, have both been proposed as potential targets for the Jets in late-stage free agency.

Does Cooper or Allen make sense for the Jets? Would either player even want to come to Florham Park? Justin and Mike express doubt in the Jets' hypothetical interest in either player and explain why it doesn't make sense for the organization.

Finally, Justin and Mike took a look at a few players who have a lot to gain during spring workouts. Players like Malachi Corley and rookie tight end Mason Taylor could be under the spotlight as OTAs progress over the coming weeks.

On the defensive side of the ball, Mike highlighted defensive end Will McDonald and cornerback Brandon Stephens as a pair of players to keep an eye on. McDonald reportedly put on 15 pounds of weight and "dominated" practice on Wednesday.
