The Jet Press Podcast: Jets training camp preview, burning questions, position battles

In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano preview New York Jets training camp, discussing burning questions, roster battles, players to watch, potential breakout stars, and more. The show finished with another challenging Jets trivia quiz.

The show began with a discussion about the quarterback position, where Cade Klubnik’s readiness remains one of the offseason’s most frequent debates. Should the rookie QB begin Week 1 as Geno Smith’s backup? More importantly, will the Jets actually trust him with that responsibility?

Justin and Mike discussed whether Klubnik is prepared to handle the QB2 job, what Bailey Zappe brings to the competition, and whether the Jets could look outside the organization for another veteran.

Potential options such as Cooper Rush and Andy Dalton also entered the discussion as the guys broke down how the team might approach the position. Could Dalton be a trade target for the Jets?

The conversation then shifted to the Jets' cornerback room. Brandon Stephens appears likely to hold down one starting job, but the rest of the depth chart remains open to interpretation.

Will Nahshon Wright start ahead of Azareye’h Thomas? Will D’Angelo Ponds handle the nickel role, or could the Jets give him more opportunities outside? Justin firmly planted his flag in the Ponds camp and explained why the rookie defensive back may have a much higher ceiling than many fans realize.

Justin and Mike also took a look at Aaron Glenn’s job security entering his second season. Is there a specific win total Glenn must reach to return in 2027? The discussion also explores whether general manager Darren Mougey is safe and how closely his future remains tied to Glenn’s.

Finally, Justin and Mike attempt Brian Sternback’s third Jets trivia challenge. After the previous quiz ended in...less-than-stellar results, both hosts entered this week’s edition looking for redemption. The quiz was not exactly interested in making that easy!
