The Jet Press Podcast: Final 53-man roster prediction ahead of Jets preseason finale

In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano provided their final 53-man roster prediction ahead of the New York Jets' preseason finale this Friday and discussed potential positions the team could target via waivers.

Justin and Mike went position by position, breaking down which players they believe will make the active roster, which ones could land on the practice squad, and which ones may be on the outside looking in when final cuts arrive.

There were undoubtedly plenty of difficult decisions along the way. At wide receiver, did Arian Smith do enough to survive roster cuts, or could undrafted rookie Malik McClain push him out? At tight end, has Jelani Woods' strong summer earned him a spot on the 53?

Meanwhile, on defense, Nate Lynn has quickly made a strong impression this preseason, but did he do enough to beat out someone like Braiden McGregor? And what about Mori Bamba, one of the breakout stars of the preseason? Justin and Mike discussed whether his strong August could actually translate into a roster spot.

The guys also looked beyond the current roster. Quarterback remains a position the Jets could address after final cuts, while offensive line and linebacker could also be areas to watch on the waiver wire.

Injured reserve possibilities were another factor in the projection, with several players potentially opening the season sidelined and creating additional roster flexibility. Finally, what about kicker? Is Jason Sanders definitely the guy entering Week 1, or could the Jets still look elsewhere before the season begins?
