In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano discuss recent criticism surrounding Aaron Glenn, his Justin Fields comments, Jets trade deadline predictions, and the team's upcoming Week 7 game against the Carolina Panthers.
The show began with a discussion about Glenn and the recent criticism he's faced from Jets fans and media alike. Glenn has done himself no favors with a collection of questionable and, at times, downright egregious postgame comments.
From his embarrassing late-game mismanagement to his snarky defense of Justin Fields, Glenn risks not just losing the support of the Jets' fanbase but of the locker room. Jets players cannot be happy with Glenn's dismissive nature and blind defense of Fields.
It’s not just that Fields is starting another week after his disastrous performance against Denver — it’s Glenn’s insistence that it’s absurd to even question a potential quarterback change that has many frustrated.
The conversation then shifted to a round of predictions ahead of the upcoming trade deadline. Justin and Mike discussed various Jets players and assessed the likelihood of each being moved before the early November cutoff.
What are the odds that Breece Hall is traded? What about the likes of Quincy Williams and even Quinnen Williams? The Jets seem likely to shop Allen Lazard and Michael Carter II, but could the same be true for Jermaine Johnson and Will McDonald?
Hall seems the most likely to be traded, but he's probably not going to be the only one. The Jets are expected to be very active in the trade market, and while a full-on fire sale might not happen, expect some trades to take place.
Finally, Justin and Mike took a look at the Jets' upcoming Week 7 game against the Panthers. Can the Jets find a way to win their first game of the Aaron Glenn era, or will they fall to a dismal 0-7 and continue the streak of misery? Justin and Mike were not very optimistic.
