Among the New York Jets' top needs heading into the offseason is another wide receiver. Garrett Wilson is a stud, every Jets fan knows that, but he can't do it all by himself.

Midseason trade acquisitions Adonai Mitchell and John Metchie flashed in the back half of the 2025 season, but neither established themselves as a bona fide No. 2 option alongside Wilson.

Turning their attention to the pro market, several wide receivers could be that complementary option for the Jets, including Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel, and Jauan Jennings.

But one of the league's best deep threats is expected to hit the open market as well, and claims he has earned the right to see what's out there for him.

With the Indianapolis Colts set to get a long-term contract done with Daniel Jones under the umbrella of the transition tag, they may not have enough cap space to retain both their quarterback and elite vertical threat, Alec Pierce.

In an interview on Up & Adams, Pierce told host Kay Adams that he loved playing for the Colts, but that he's excited to see his market in unrestricted free agency.

"I love Indy. I've loved playing there. Great organization, great people in the city...I know we haven't been as good as we could be, and I know we can be. But yeah, now at this point, I've kind of earned the right to explore free agency, see what's out there, and just, you know, make a decision that's best for my career and for my family."

The former Cincinnati Bearcat is expected to have a robust market waiting for him. Pierce is routinely at the top of the league in average yards per reception, with 22.3 and 21.3 yards per catch in 2024 and 2025, respectively.

When one of the league's elite deep threats hits the open market, you know there's going to be at least one team willing to pay up. Spotrac expects Pierce to land a four-year deal worth up to $80.1 million.

The Jets, with all of their cap space, could be a prime destination. Offensive coordinator Frank Reich was the head coach in Indianapolis when Pierce was drafted, and would surely know how to utilize him.

Pierce's field-stretching abilities could be the perfect running mate for Garrett Wilson as the Jets continue to build up their offensive arsenal.
