In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano discuss the Zach Wilson rumors, the NY Jets' decision to start Wilson this week, Brett Rypien, and the team's upcoming Week 14 game against the Houston Texans.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh announced his team's decision to start Wilson at quarterback moving forward. Wilson replaces the recently released Tim Boyle and will serve as the starter in Week 14, with Trevor Siemian serving as the primary backup.
This comes just two weeks after Wilson was benched in favor of Boyle. Are the Jets making the right decision at the quarterback position? Does Siemian deserve the start instead? Does it even matter? The answer to that last question is no...no it does not.
Justin and Mike also discussed the reports about Wilson's "reluctance" to play again this season in depth. What does this mean for Wilson moving forward? Should we even believe the reports? All of that was discussed.
What about Brett Rypien? The Jets signed the former Boise State quarterback off the Seattle Seahawks practice squad this week. Rypien joins Wilson and Siemian as QB options for the Jets moving forward.
Do we think that Rypien is going to play in a game this season? This is the Jets we're talking about — you can never rule anything out. Justin and Mike briefly break down Rypien's strengths and weaknesses, dating back to his college days.
Finally, Justin and Mike attempted to break down the Jets' upcoming game against the Texans on Sunday. Do the Jets have any chance to win? What should we expect from Zach Wilson? Not much.
