In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano break down the NY Jets 53-man roster and discuss potential trades the team can make this season. Our interview with Jets All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner is also featured in the episode.
The Jets released their initial 53-man roster on Tuesday and began to put together their practice squad the following day. There were a few notable surprises, and Justin and Mike broke it all down.
The Jets only opted to carry two quarterbacks on the active roster. They temporarily parted ways with one of their draft picks. They did the same with one of their highly-touted undrafted rookies. Which was the most surprising move the team made?
Perhaps it was the Jets' decision to carry seven wide receivers on the active roster, at least as of now. Why did the Jets do this? Justin and Mike dove in and discussed.
At around the halfway mark of the episode, we aired the premiere of our recent interview with Jets All-Pro cornerback and reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year Sauce Gardner.
Gardner joined The Jet Press to discuss his partnership with Buffalo Wild Wings, the origin of his handshake with Aaron Rodgers, his experience on "Hard Knocks, his college graduation, and even his toughest matchups in the NFL so far.
You're not going to want to miss that interview. The full video is embedded above.
Finally, Justin and Mike discussed some trade candidates to keep an eye on as the 2023 season progresses. From pipe dreams like Davante Adams and Mike Evans to more reasonable targets such as Michael Gallup and Darnell Mooney, there are a few interesting names out there.
