By Justin Fried
In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano discuss some of the top spring storylines for the NY Jets, Aaron Rodgers' rejected political opportunity, Sauce Gardner's defensive change, and Robert Saleh's new direction.
The show began with a conversation about the Jets' media session following Tuesday's first open-media OTA of the spring. Everyone from Aaron Rodgers to Robert Saleh to Sauce Gardner spoke to reporters.
Justin and Mike discussed Rodgers' comments first. The four-time MVP confirmed that he had an opportunity to join Robert F. Kennedy's presidential campaign but that he turned down the offer to return to play for the Jets.
While it's fair to criticize Rodgers' controversial comments and off-field antics, the 40-year-old QB has maintained his commitment to the Jets since the day he joined the organization. He's all in on the Jets — that much has been made clear.
Justin and Mike also discussed Robert Saleh's expected increase in offensive input and the Jets' decision to allow Sauce Gardner to travel with opposing wide receivers. How much input will Saleh have? Should the Jets expect significant defensive adjustments with Gardner?
Finally, Justin and Mike broke down some of the top storylines surrounding the Jets this spring. Who will be the Jets' RB2? What does the future hold for Allen Lazard? What should fans make of the safety battle? All of that was discussed.
