The Jet Press Podcast: Jermaine Johnson replacements, NY Jets stats, Patriots preview

In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano discuss the NY Jets' potential options to replace Jermaine Johnson, the introduction of the Gang Green Stat Machine, and the upcoming New England Patriots game on Thursday Night Football.

The show began with a conversation about the significant impact the loss of Johnson could have on the Jets' defense. More specifically, what options do the Jets have to replace him?

The Jets could turn to the free-agent market, although the likes of Yannick Ngakoue, Shaq Lawson, and Anthony Barr are hardly the most inspiring names. The team could also just roll with their internal options, hoping a player like Will McDonald takes a step forward in his second NFL season.

One option the Jets could explore would be to call up the Denver Broncos and inquire about a John Franklin-Myers trade. The Jets sent Franklin-Myers to the Broncos in the offseason, but with Denver going nowhere fast, it's worth inquiring about his availability. His contract is very manageable.

Of course, it's impossible to talk about the Johnson injury without bringing up Haason Reddick. The injury unfortunately gives Reddick increased leverage in contract talks, but does mean the Jets should just give in? It might not be their best course of action.

Justin and Mike later debuted a new segment colloquially referred to as the "Gang Green Stat Machine," taking a look back at a number of key Jets statistics from this past week's 24-17 win over the Tennessee Titans.

From the Jets' historic offensive line dominance to Sauce Gardner's off day to Jamien Sherwood's breakout, Justin and Mike discussed the top Jets statistical takeaways from Week 2.

Finally, The Jet Press Podcast was joined by Sara Marshall of Musket Fire to discuss Thursday's Jets-Patriots game. The Jets are 6.5-point favorites entering this week's game, but should fans be concerned about a possible letdown? Don't take this Patriots team lightly.

Sara provided unique insight into the world of the Patriots and offered her prediction for the Jets-Patriots Thursday Night Football showdown.
