In today's episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano discuss a potential DeAndre Hopkins trade, the Jets missing out on Odell Beckham, and if Devin White makes sense for the Jets.
A lot has happened in the last week as it pertains to the Jets' wide receiver room. A week ago at this time, it seemed almost definite that the Jets would be able to work out a deal for Beckham. That was before the Baltimore Ravens made him an offer he couldn't refuse.
With Beckham no longer an option, who could the Jets pivot to? DeAndre Hopkins absolutely makes the most sense, and Justin and Mike discussed why a Hopkins trade is both realistic and reasonable.
The Jets should be able to make the finances of a Hopkins trade work, and there should be no question about his ability. Even at the age of 31, Hopkins was posted top-10 wide receiver numbers in 2022.
Justin and Mike explain in detail why the Jets should absolutely pursue a DeAndre Hopkins trade and dispel any qualms or concerns some fans might have about the potential acquisition.
The next topic of discussion was Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Devin White. White requested a trade this week, but Justin and Mike don't believe it makes any sense for the Jets to consider trading for him.
The Jets also signed defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson and quarterback Tim Boyle in the time since our last show. Justin and Mike analyze the two signings and explain why each move does or doesn't make sense.
Finally, we finish the show with our weekly draft spotlight. Mike highlighted TCU defensive lineman Adetomiwa Adebawore, while Justin focused on California safety Daniel Scott — two high-upside, athletic prospects.
