Predicting the outcome for all 22 NY Jets free agents in 2024
By Justin Fried
Chuck Clark, S, NY Jets
The Chuck Clark trade was one of the savviest moves of the offseason for the Jets. Unfortunately, the longtime Baltimore Ravens safety tore his ACL in the spring and never played a game for his new team.
Clark is a reliable starting-caliber safety who had quite literally never missed an NFL game due to injury before coming to New York. The Jets should have interest in re-signing him, possibly as a starter again in 2024.
Prediction: Re-signed
Randall Cobb, WR, NY Jets
Randall Cobb played a larger role in the Jets' offense last season than anyone would have anticipated going into the year, and that wasn't a good thing. Cobb finished with just five catches for 39 yards despite playing 31 percent of the team's offensive snaps.
The Jets will be looking to reshape their wide receiver room in the offseason, but you can never count out Cobb returning as long as Aaron Rodgers is the team's quarterback.
Prediction: Not re-signed
Ashtyn Davis, S, NY Jets
It's been a rocky four years for Ashtyn Davis in New York, but the former third-round pick finally showed glimpses of the player he was at Cal this past season. Davis worked his way into a regular role in the Jets' defense and maximized his snaps.
The 27-year-old is a Brant Boyer favorite on special teams and proved to be a valuable defensive contributor in 2023. I'd expect the Jets to bring him back on a second contract.
Prediction: Re-signed
Sam Eguavoen, LB, NY Jets
Signed by the Jets in August, Sam Eguavoen became a special-teams regular for the Jets, appearing in 15 games and playing 70 percent of the team's special-teams snaps. Only Jamien Sherwood and Ashtyn Davis played more on special teams.
Brant Boyer has a lot of say in Jets roster construction, so there's a chance Eguavoen is re-signed to replicate his role in 2024.
Prediction: Re-signed
