1. The NY Jets should avoid Odell Beckham Jr.
The name Odell Beckham Jr. still has star recognition, but maybe it shouldn’t. His famous one-handed catch that still plays on SportsCenter is a highlight that will live on with football fans forever, but it’s been four seasons since he’s been a 1000-yard receiver.
Even worse, Beckham hasn’t played a football game since February 2022, when he tore his ACL in the Super Bowl while playing for the Los Angeles Rams.
Trusting Beckham to be anything other than a No. 3 receiver at this point in his career would be a lot to ask, and the supposed money he’s asking for would suggest he’s not willing to be a No. 3 guy.
Reports came out that he was looking for up to $20 million per season, however, he did refute that statement, saying that number just needs to be higher than $4 million.
If you can get Beckham for $5 million on a one-year deal with some incentives sprinkled in, then it might make sense to bring him in. However, it remains to be seen if Beckham is willing to take such a deal.
That type of cash is too rich when your quarterback expenses are going way up and the team already has Garrett Wilson, Mecole Hardman, and Allen Lazard as a solid trio in their receiving corps.
