NY Jets head coach Robert Saleh was recently named Coach of the Week by Pro Football Talk after leading the Jets to a thrilling victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Through four weeks of the season, the Jets still have plenty to improve upon on both sides of the ball, yet the foundational pieces are there for New York to put together a successful campaign in 2022.
D.J. Reed and Sauce Gardner are playing at a Pro Bowl level in the secondary. Breece Hall is stepping up and proving he can handle RB1 duties. Zach Wilson shook off the rust and displayed poise and a glimpse of his passing talents in the Jets' fourth-quarterback comeback against Pittsburgh.
Hired back in 2021, Robert Saleh has played a large part in bringing this Jets squad together and rightfully gets rewarded for clinching two vital wins at the start of the 2022 season.
NY Jets HC Robert Saleh can keep the receipts and the awards after Week 4 win
Saleh's chances of winning Coach of the Year, however, are much more improbable considering the obstacles he has to face this season. The offensive line depth keeps getting thinner, the defense still ranks among the league's worst in yards allowed, and Zach Wilson needs to get up to speed.
Having Wilson back in the lineup will potentially do wonders for the offense as long as Saleh and offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur can figure out how to best utilize the Jets' offensive pieces.
Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson, Elijah Moore, Corey Davis, and the tight ends make up the muscle of New York's offense, and there are still plenty of games left to go to get the most out of this unit.
Up next, the Jets take on an AFC East rival without their starting quarterback as well as key defensive starters. Can Gang Green surprise the Miami Dolphins in Week 5?
