Sunday was quite the day for NY Jets quarterback Zach Wilson. Wilson found himself at the center of some social media controversy regarding his ex-girlfriend, ex-best friend, and his mother's best friend of all people.

We recapped the entire situation (or at least what's known of it) in a previous article, along with some reactions from what was a highly entertaining day on Jets Twitter.

To recap, Wilson's ex-girlfriend, Abbey Gile, is confirmed to be in a relationship with his former BYU teammate and best friend, Dax Milne. Gile later insinuated that Wilson was "sleeping with his mom's best friend" in an Instagram comment.

The result was a day filled with memes, jokes, and everything in between on social media. Wilson had the NFL world buzzing, and his teammates made sure to weigh in on the discussion.

Zach Wilson's NY Jets teammates weighed in on his relationship drama

Mekhi Becton was the first to comment, simply posting a GIF of the famous Terrell Owens "that's my quarterback" meme.

Others such as Elijah Moore, Garrett Wilson, and Sauce Gardner followed suit with their own kind of praise. Moore even responded to a tweet from former NFL wide receiver and known Zach Wilson supporter, Chad Johnson, where Wilson was affectionately referred to as "the GOAT."

It wasn't just Wilson's Jets teammates that took part in the discussion. Others from around the league joined in on a conversation that dominated NFL Twitter on Sunday.

Among the most notable were Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf and former Jets offensive tackle Damien Woody.

What else is there to be said that hasn't been said already? It's the middle of July and the NFL news cycle is at arguably its slowest point of the season. Sometimes we need a story like this to spice things up a little.

The Jets are certainly hoping to see Zach Wilson take a significant step forward in 2022. At the very least, it seems he's earned the respect of some teammates in the locker room.
