NY Jets QB Aaron Rodgers makes history with NFL Top 100 appearance

NY Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is one of the best to ever do it. He's received an almost immeasurable number of awards and honors throughout his career, and on Friday, he received another one.

Rodgers was officially named to the NFL Top 100 list for the 13th time in his NFL career. The list has only existed for 13 years, making him the only player in league history to appear on the list every year of its existence.

Rodgers' ranking of 51 might have some upset and confused, but it's impossible to ignore the longevity and success that the future Hall of Famer has found in the NFL over the last 13 years.

He hasn't just been sneaking into the back half, either. This is the first time in his career that Rodgers has been ranked lower than 16th in his career.

Rodgers has been ranked in the top 10 nine times and the top-three four times. He was the NFL's No. 1 player in 2012, ranked second in 2015, and ranked third in 2020 and 2021 — his two most recent MVP seasons.

While Rodgers' production declined last season, the Jets still believe they are getting one of the best quarterbacks in football.

The Jets traded for Rodgers this offseason with the expectation that the four-time MVP would make them legitimate Super Bowl contenders. To do so, they expect Rodgers to be better than the 51st-best player in the NFL.

While they don't necessarily need him to play at an MVP level again, they are hoping to see Rodgers bounce back from an admittedly down year for him in a season that was hindered by a lingering thumb injury and a lackluster supporting cast.

Rodgers joins an offensive core that features the likes of Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall, along with one of the deepest and most talented defenses in football. He will also reunite with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, whom he won consecutive MVPs working with in Green Bay.

The NFL players have spoken and declared that Aaron Rodgers isn't a top 50 player in the NFL anymore. It'll be up to him to prove his doubters wrong this season.
