NY Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has taken a beating over the last two weeks. The Jets' offensive line has allowed a whopping 34 pressures over the last two games combined, failing to protect their star quarterback.

That's why it should come as no surprise that Rodgers has now popped up on the injury report with two separate injuries over the last couple of weeks. His latest ailment is an ankle injury that he suffered in the Jets' Week 5 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Rodgers told reporters after the game that he had sustained a low ankle sprain and he didn't seem concerned about it at the time. Jets head coach Robert Saleh provided a similar update when speaking to the media on Monday.

Saleh confirmed that Rodgers is dealing with a low ankle sprain, insisting that preliminary tests have shown that he will be available to play next Monday when the Jets take on the Buffalo Bills. Rodgers is not expected to miss any time.

NY Jets avoid disaster with Aaron Rodgers injury update

Jets fans understandably feared the worst when Rodgers was essentially folded in half on an incomplete pass with around six minutes remaining in the third quarter of Sunday's game.

Rodgers initially grabbed at the back of his left leg before walking off the field with trainers toward the blue medical tent. But before he reached the tent, a special-teams penalty on the Vikings extended the Jets' drive, prompting Rodgers to return to the field immediately.

He'd lead the Jets to a 17-play scoring drive capped off by a Greg Zuerlein field goal to cut the Vikings' lead to seven points. Rodgers would eventually get checked out by trainers before returning without missing a play.

Rodgers admitted he was "definitely banged up" following the game, but the injury doesn't appear to be something that will cause him to miss any time. The four-time MVP entered the game nursing a knee injury that he suffered the week before against the Denver Broncos.

The Jets took extra precautionary measures this weekend, elevating Adrian Martinez from the practice squad to serve as their third-string quarterback behind Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor. It will be interesting to see if they do the same next week against the Bills.

Rodgers' status is worth monitoring as the week progresses as his practice availability will provide more details on the severity of his injury. For now, however, Jets fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Rodgers should be fine.
