Aaron Rodgers injury update: NY Jets star QB suffers ankle injury in Week 5 loss
By Justin Fried
NY Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has taken a beating — both physically and mentally — over the last two weeks, and he's certainly feeling the effects of multiple injuries following his team's 23-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5.
Rodgers was already nursing a knee injury that he suffered in the Jets' Week 4 loss to the Denver Broncos. Now, you can add an ankle injury to his growing list of ailments.
Rodgers was briefly knocked out of Sunday's game after his foot was rolled up in the third quarter. The four-time MVP was headed to the sideline to enter the blue medical tent before a special-teams penalty extended the Jets' drive and forced him back onto the field.
Rodgers didn't miss a snap, but it was clear that he wasn't playing at 100 percent. The Jets' quarterback was limping around as he attempted to execute a second-half comeback.
He provided an update on his ankle injury after the game.

Rodgers told reporters after the game that he suffered a low-ankle sprain in his team's Week 5 game. He admitted that he was "definitely banged up," insisting that his foot simply got caught up in a pile.
Tyrod Taylor was seen warming up on the sideline during the game although he was never inserted. The Jets also have third-string quarterback Adrian Martinez, who was elevated from the practice squad this week.
It doesn't sound like Rodgers' injuries are considered serious at this time. It's common for players to play through low-ankle sprains, and Rodgers will have an extra day off with the Jets' Week 6 game coming against the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football.
That doesn't solve the Jets' offensive issues, however. Rodgers was sacked three times and hit 11 times in Sunday's loss. The future Hall of Famer isn't going to make it through a full season if he continues to take beatings like that every week.
The Jets don't appear concerned about Rodgers' current injuries, but if they're not careful, things could get much worse.
