Aaron Rodgers injury update: Jets QB suffers knee injury, leads scoring drive
By Mike Luciano
Just when it looked like things could not get worse for the NY Jets, quarterback Aaron Rodgers, fresh off two of the worst interceptions you'll ever see him throw, suffered a concerning knee injury. The Minnesota Vikings' vaunted pass rush finally managed to get to him.
Rodgers was bent in half and was even heading toward the blue medical tent after reaggravating his knee injury. However, a penalty on a Jets punt helped keep the drive alive, and Rodgers was able to saunter back out there with his already limited mobility further compromised. Still, he was able to put together a sustained, successful drive.
Rodgers found a way to stay in the pocket, throwing quick passes to players like Garrett Wilson and Braelon Allen. Ultimately, a drop from Allen Lazard in the red zone brought an end to this still-impressive drive, as Greg Zuerlein's field goal cut Minnesota's lead down to 17-10 late in the third quarter.
Rodgers did head into the medical tent after the drive, however. Backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who only came in during the Jets' defeat in San Francisco in Week 1, has been getting loose behind No. 8. This injury will assuredly be something to monitor as the Jets try to forge a comeback.

While Taylor has proven he can run an NFL offense in the past, even the biggest Jets optimist will admit that any shot the team has of competing will go down the drain if Rodgers is unable to lift up this offense. Against the Vikings, any slip-up can prove critical.
Rodgers did manage to stay in the game on the next drive after his injury, but a sack and quick punt didn't do much to show both the Jets and fans watching that he was ready to lead a vigorous comeback. It remains to be seen just how much the Jets will risk him in this compromised state.
Rodgers has enough arm talent and football smarts to lead the Jets to some offensive success despite his bumps and bruises. However, fans need to prepare for a very limited version of him for the remainder of the game.
