NY Jets fans have waited patiently for the team to sport throwback jerseys in some capacity. That wait is officially over.
The Jets announced the debut of their "Legacy White" uniforms on Monday, a modernized version of the team's jerseys from their Sack Exchange era. The design is meant to replicate the uniforms worn by the team from 1979-1989.
The Jets revealed that they will wear the uniforms twice this year β Week 1 versus the Buffalo Bills and Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Both games will be at home and in primetime.
The jerseys are not only unique in their color and design, but they also feature the old Sack Exchange logo. That logo will be present on the 50-yard line and throughout MetLife Stadium during the two games the Jets wear the uniforms.
Needless to say, Jets fans and players alike are ecstatic about these new (old?) uniforms. Here is a collection of some of the best Twitter reactions from Jets fans.
NY Jets players are just as excited as fans about the new throwback jerseys
NFL teams are only allowed to wear throwback and alternate jerseys three times during the course of a season. Since the Jets will already be wearing their alternate "Stealth Black" uniforms against the Miami Dolphins in the NFL's first Black Friday game, that limits their throwback jersey usage to two games.
Despite this, it seems as though Jets players are just as excited as the fans are for the reveal of these new uniforms. Here are some of the most notable reactions from current and former Jets players.
There is already a ridiculous amount of hype surrounding this Jets team entering the 2023 season. The acquisition of future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers has given the Jets legitimate Super Bowl aspirations this year.
Rodgers joins a young and talented core featuring stars such as Sauce Gardner, Quinnen Williams, and Garrett Wilson (among many others) to give the Jets one of the most impressive rosters in the NFL.
Combine that with the team's upcoming appearance on "Hard Knocks," and the Jets have become the talk of the NFL. The hype is real.
Now, you can add the debut of the team's much-desired throwback jerseys to the list of reasons to be excited about the Jets in 2023.
