NY Jets news: Jordan Whitehead rips NFL, Von Miller out for the season

The NY Jets are set to take on the Buffalo Bills in Week 14, and their opponents will be without one of their best players as star pass rusher Von Miller recently underwent season-ending knee surgery to repair a torn ACL.

There was initially some optimism that Miller would not only return this season but return in time for the Jets' game. Instead, he will be sidelined for an extended period of time and miss the remainder of the 2022 campaign.

Miller's absence is a major blow to a Bills team looking to make a run at the Super Bowl. As for the Jets, that's one less star defender to worry about heading into Sunday's matchup.

Jordan Whitehead calls out the NFL after receiving a fine

Jets safety Jordan Whitehead was fined for this hit on Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson last week, a hit that garnered a 15-yard personal foul penalty.

Whitehead took to Twitter to express his displeasure in a since-deleted tweet that read "Got fined 15k for this bs. They just trynna take our money smh and what am I suppose to do let him catch it??”

Other players were quick to jump to Whitehead's defense with Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer exclaiming that the NFL wants players to play "flag football."

NY Jets elevate Marcell Harris from the practice squad

The Jets made just one roster move on Saturday, elevating Marcell Harris from the practice squad. Harris will likely play exclusively on special teams and could be asked to take some of Michael Clemons' special-teams snaps if the rookie defensive end is unable to play.

Clemons is listed as questionable after missing practice all week with an illness. Harris will serve as a backup behind the likes of C.J. Mosley, Quincy Williams, and Kwon Alexander.

NY Jets rookie OT Max Mitchell out for the season

The Jets placed rookie offensive tackle Max Mitchell on the non-football illness list this week and ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

It was reported and later confirmed that doctors found blood clots in Mitchell's legs and lungs. Thankfully, the issue is not expected to be career-threatening and the Jets expect to have Mitchell back next season.

Mitchell's absence paves the way for George Fant to start at right tackle opposite Duane Brown. Mike Remmers is the primary backup offensive tackle while veteran Laurent Duvernay-Tardif took Mitchell's place on the active roster.
