The NY Jets have swung and missed on multiple centers in free agency so far, missing out on the likes of Jake Brendel and Graham Glasgow. They might be eyeing someone in the draft, however.
It was reported by uSTADIUM on Thursday that Minnesota center John Michael Schmitz has top-30 visits scheduled with both the Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers. It was noted that the Jets "love" Schmitz as a potential target in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Schmitz is widely seen as the top center prospect in this year's draft class and a potential top-40 pick. The Jets could be targeting Schmitz with their second-round pick, although it's certainly possible he's taken before then.
With the Jets still in need of a starting center, keep an eye on Schmitz next month, especially if the Jets don't add a true starter in free agency.

Jets sign free-agent OL Wes Schweitzer
The Jets did sign an offensive lineman on Thursday, inking veteran Wes Schweitzer to a two-year, $2.5 million contract. Schweitzer has started 24 games over the last three seasons for the Washington Commanders and has experience playing all three interior offensive line positions.
Originally a sixth-round pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 2016, Schweitzer started all 16 games at right guard as a rookie before switching to left guard in his second season. In total, Schweitzer has started 60 games over six years in the NFL.
The Jets likely see Schweitzer as a replacement for Dan Feeney, who signed with the Miami Dolphins (more on that in a moment) on Thursday. His versatility to play either guard or center could be valuable as a sixth offensive lineman.
Mike White recruiting former Jets to Miami
Speaking of Dan Feeney, he isn't the only former Jets player headed down south to Miami. In fact, three former Jets offensive players signed with the Dolphins this week.
The first of the bunch was Mike White, who signed a two-year, $8 million contract (max $16 million) with the Dolphins on Wednesday. It seems as though White wanted to bring a few friends with him as, along with Feeney, wide receiver Braxton Berrios signed with the Dolphins on Thursday.
White tweeted our a video on Thursday, seemingly celebrating the trio reuniting in South Beach.
With all the talk about Aaron Rodgers' supposed wishlist, it appears Mike White had his own wishlist. White, Berrios, and Feeney are all traveling to Miami together.
