Another day of Aaron Rodgers watch for the NY Jets. It seems as though we're nearing some sort of conclusion given the rampant reports that have come out in recent days suggesting that Rodgers could be on his way to New York.

If Rodgers is traded, it seems very likely that the only logical landing spot for him is the Jets. Because of that, his trade value might not be nearly as high as many initially anticipated.

Daniel Jeremiah reported on Friday that the expectation is that any Rodgers trade would not include a first-round pick. Both Jeremiah and Rich Eisen seemed convinced that Rodgers would end up with the Jets before long.

The Green Bay Packers have reportedly been seeking a first-round pick and more in a Rodgers trade, but given the lack of suitors, it seems as though they aren't going to get the value they want.

Jets meet with Minnesota center John Michael Schmitz at the NFL Combine

The Jets have met with a number of the top prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft class at the Combine this week, and you could add Minnesota center John Michael Schmitz to that list.

Schmitz is widely seen as the consensus best center in this year's class and could be drafted as high as the first round. Connor McGovern is set to be a free agent this offseason, and the Jets could consider replacing him with Schmitz in the draft.

The 2022 first-team All-American told reporters at the Combine that he also met with the Seattle Seahawks, Washington Commanders, Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Chargers, and Dallas Cowboys, among other teams.

Todd Downing to play a key role in 2023

The Jets suffered from a "too many cooks in the kitchen" situation in regard to the quarterback room in 2021, so they attempted to mitigate that by reducing the voices in Zach Wilson's ear this past season.

Unfortunately, the change didn't yield positive results. Going into 2023, the Jets are relying on former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Todd Downing to be "the main voice" in the QB room.

The Jets hired Downing as their new passing game coordinator last month, and he's expected to fill the role that the late Greg Knapp was supposed to fill in 2021 prior to his passing.
