NY Jets quarterback Mike White was forced to exit the team's Week 14 game against the Buffalo Bills twice with what was referred to as a ribs injury. He ultimately returned the game in heroic fashion, but the Jets are playing it safe with their quarterback.

Head coach Robert Saleh told reporters after the game that White was sent to a local hospital for "precautionary reasons." Saleh said that White sustained multiple rip injuries and that he was sent to the hospital to determine if there were any potential internal injuries.

White was forced to leave the game twice after taking multiple massive hits to his midsection. Backup Joe Flacco entered the game and proceeded to miss multiple open receivers before turning the ball over on a strip sack.

Saleh's update seemed to suggest that the Jets believe White will be okay, but the team won't know for sure until the results come back.

NY Jets QB Mike White proved his toughness and grit in Week 14

The Jets may have lost to the Bills, but White proved exactly why he has earned the respect and admiration of every player in that locker room. He played through obvious pain and gave the Jets a chance to win at the end of the game.

White finished the game 27-of-44 for 268 yards despite playing against a Bills defense that wreaked havoc on the Jets' offensive line all day. The fact that he managed to return to the game and give the Jets a chance to win despite the situation he was in is a testament to his toughness.

White was forced to leave the Bills' stadium in an ambulance for the same injury that he played through during the game. That's how you earn the respect of your teammates.

Mike White will be the Jets' starting quarterback next week and for the foreseeable future provided he's healthy.
