NY Jets legends Darrelle Revis and Joe Klecko rightfully named to Hall of Fame

The Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2023 was announced on Thursday, and two NY Jets legends finally received the fame and recognition that they deserve. Both Darrelle Revis and Joe Klecko are headed to Canton.

For Revis, the wait wasn't exactly very long. The seven-time Pro Bowler was eligible for induction for the first time this year following his retirement in 2018. He becomes just the 11th cornerback to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

As for Klecko, his wait was much longer. The famed member of the New York Sack Exchange retired some 35 years ago. and his chance at a Hall of Fame bid seemed to grow smaller by the year.

However, the NFL's decision to expand the number of "seniors" inducted into the Hall of Fame each year opened the door for justice to finally be served.

Now, Klecko is finally on his way to Canton, and he'll be immortalized alongside another longtime Jets legend in Revis.

With Revis and Klecko both headed to the Hall of Fame, it seems very likely that the Jets could be chosen to play in this year's Pro Football Hall of Fame Game.

The Jets haven't played in the Hall of Fame Game, an annual preseason game held the weekend of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's induction ceremonies, since 1992 — the year former Jets running back John Riggins was inducted.

Only the Detroit Lions have a longer active streak of years without an appearance in the Hall of Fame Game than the Jets, so it's about time the NFL threw Gang Green a bone. This would be the perfect year to make it happen.

Darrelle Revis has rightfully been recognized as one of the greatest cornerbacks of all time. The former Pittsburgh standout made seven Pro Bowls, four first-team All-Pro squads, was named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team, and has a Super Bowl ring to his name.

Joe Klecko fits the criteria as well as a former Defensive Player of the Year, four-time Pro Bowler, three-time All-Pro, and the NFL's sack leader in 1981. He was one of the most dominant and feared defensive players of his era — his inclusion in Canton is long overdue.

Tonight is a great night for the New York Jets. Two franchise icons have finally received the national recognition that they deserve.
