NY Jets inactives list for Week 3 game against Patriots (C.J. Mosley status revealed)
By Justin Fried
The NY Jets will be down a couple of key defensive players when they take on a New England Patriots team that isn't exactly healthy either entering their Week 3 meeting on Thursday Night Football tonight.
The Jets defeated the Patriots for the first time in 15 matchups this past January, but this week's game counts for more than just draft position. Both teams enter this game with a 1-1 record, looking to jostle for position in a competitive AFC East.
The Jets are fresh off their first win of the season in Week 2 and will be hoping to carry over that momentum into their matchup tonight. Meanwhile, the Patriots are hoping to bounce back following a disappointing loss to the Seattle Seahawks in overtime a week ago.
New England's roster has already been hit hard by the injury bug this year. The likes of Christian Barmore, Ja'Whaun Bentley, Kendrick Bourne, Cole Strange, and Chukwuma Okorafor are all on reserve lists for various reasons.
The Jets, on the other hand, lost Pro Bowl edge rusher Jermaine Johnson to a torn Achilles this past Sunday. The team promoted defensive lineman Jalyn Holmes to take his place on the 53-man roster.
Who are the official inactives for both the Jets and the Patriots today? We've got you covered.
Full inactives list for NY Jets in Week 3
- RB Israel Abanikanda
- CB Jarrick Bernard-Converse
- OT Max Mitchell
- LB C.J. Mosley
- DL Eric Watts
- OT Carter Warren
With cornerback D.J. Reed (knee) back in the lineup, Jarrick Bernard-Converse is once again a healthy scratch after he made his season debut in Week 2. Brandin Echols will return to a reserve role as Reed steps back into his starting job.
The most notable inactive this week is linebacker C.J. Mosley, who was listed as questionable with a toe injury entering the game. Mosley did not practice all week and always seemed likely to miss tonight's matchup.
The Jets elevated linebacker Marcelino McCrary-Ball from the practice squad while Jamien Sherwood will fill in for Mosley as one of the team's starting linebackers. Chazz Surratt should be the starting strong-side linebacker in the base formation.
Undrafted rookie Leonard Taylor III is also active for the first time and is set to make his NFL debut. With Jermaine Johnson on injured reserve, the Jets promoted Jalyn Holmes to the active roster. Taylor will take Johnson's place on the game-day roster.

- LB Ja'Whaun Bentley
- OT Vederian Lowe
- QB Joe Milton III
- CB Marco Wilson
- LB Jamree Kromah
- OG Sidy Sow
The Patriots will be without a number of key starters in tonight's game. The team plans to place starting linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley on the injured reserve with a torn pectoral muscle suffered in Week 2. Edge rusher Oshane Ximines has already been placed on IR with a knee injury.
As far as inactives go, the Patriots will be without two starting offensive linemen as left tackle Vederian Lowe (knee) and left guard Sidy Sow (ankle) have both been ruled out. This Patriots offensive line is really hurting as we enter Week 3.
The expectation is that rookie third-round pick Caedan Wallace will start at left tackle while veteran guard Michael Jordan will start at left guard. Center David Andrews (hip) and right tackle Mike Onwenu (wrist) were listed as questionable but will play tonight.
