The NY Jets have had a few notable standouts on their roster through the first four weeks of the season, but none have been more impressive than defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.

Simply put, Williams has been the best player on the Jets' roster through the first month of the season. Not just that, but he's playing like one of the elite players at his position as well.

To this point, the former third-overall pick has been squarely in the "very good" tier as it pertains to defensive linemen. He's been arguably the Jets' most consistently good performer over the last few years, but he's yet to truly break out into that top tier of defensive tackles.

That appears to be changing in 2022. Williams is quickly putting together a career year.

Quinnen Williams is the best player on the NY Jets roster right now

While players like D.J. Reed, Sauce Gardner, and even Alijah Vera-Tucker have put together strong campaigns to this point, none have been able to match what Williams has done in comparison to his peers.

Through four weeks, Williams ranks third among interior defensive linemen in sacks (3), is tied for third in Pro Football Focus pass-rush grade (87.5), is second in pass-rush productivity (7.9), and tied for 11th in pressures (11).

By every metric, he's playing like a top-five defensive tackle in the NFL. This is despite the fact that he's playing just 62 percent of the Jets' defensive snaps.

In fact, among interior defensive linemen with at least 11 pressures, none have played fewer pass-rush snaps than Williams who has just 93 through four weeks. Those 93 pass-rush snaps rank 38th among interior defensive linemen despite Williams ranking top-five in most pass-rush statistics.

One can only imagine what his numbers would look like if he was allowed to play more than two-thirds of his team's defensive snaps a game. Don't expect that to change anytime soon, however.

Regardless, Quinnen Williams is in the midst of a potential All-Pro season. Expect the Jets to pay him handsomely for his efforts in the near future.
