NY Jets DT Quinnen Williams has been 'dominating training camp'
By Kristen Wong
NY Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams has arguably been the best player at training camp so far and could see a breakthrough in his fourth season in New York.
Williams is entering a contract year and looks primed for a monster season with the Jets after three very productive campaigns. This could be the season he finally puts it all together.
The young defensive tackle started every game he played and recorded 13 sacks over the last two seasons and has developed into a franchise cornerstone piece in the trenches.
Williams has continued to shine in camp as a dangerous menace on the defensive line, notching a few sacks against Zach Wilson. What does 2022 have in store for him?
NY Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams has enjoyed a very impressive training camp
Paired with talented defenders like Carl Lawson and John Franklin-Myers, Williams has the potential to earn a huge payday for himself this season.
Williams previously spoke out on his contract situation earlier this summer, telling reporters back in May that "money is not a big thing on my heart or my mind," but his elite defensive performances very much warrant a lucrative contract.
As arguably the Jets' most important player on defense, Williams stands out as one of the team's best draft picks in recent history and has lived up to the first-round hype.
His 2022 training camp performance just goes to show that Williams still hasn't scratched the surface of his potential and, despite the success he's already achieved, is working hard to improve his game.
The Jets have a small wrinkle in their offense after Mekhi Becton went down with a season-ending injury, but the team's defense looks as good as it's been in years.
Can Williams carry his dominant streak into the 2022 regular season? We sure hope so.
