Steer clear of NY Jets tight ends and kickers in fantasy

The NY Jets offense will be improved in 2021, but until a competent option at kicker emerges, looking elsewhere at this position would be wise.

There will be a battle in training camp between the incumbent Sam Ficken and rookie Chris Naggar. The latter has a powerful leg, but the Jets kicker to start 2021 may not even be on their active roster at the moment.

As for the situation at tight end, while the Shanahan system has a positive history and has produced great productivity for players like Shannon Sharpe, Jordan Reed, George Kittle, etc., right now, there is significant uncertainty as to whom will emerge for Gang Green.

Chris Herndon is not off to a great start thus far, but perhaps he can redeem himself in training camp. Tyler Kroft, if healthy, has the capability to be a quality red-zone option.

The Verdict

Until further notice, Herndon and Kroft are, at best, TE2 options. It's hard seeing a scenario where either emerges as a consistent weekly option in fantasy. Or as even a reliable option on the bench.

The wait-and-see approach is in full effect when it comes to the Jets kicker and tight end positions.
