Wilson injured his elbow in his team's 16-12 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday Night Football last week and was a limited participant in practice every day this past week.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh told reporters on Friday that Wilson still had a few "hurdles" to clear before he'd be able to play. This led to some concern that the Jets could be without their star wide receiver.
However, Wilson did his best to quell any concern when he told reporters later in the day that he intends to play on Sunday. As of now, this is the clearest confirmation that we have.
The Jets will release their list of inactive players just before 3 pm ET, but for now, it does seem as though Wilson will play today.
Is Garrett Wilson playing today?
This Jets offense is already bad enough with Wilson — they can't afford to have him miss any time due to injury. Despite playing in an inept offense with poor quarterback play, Wilson is still on pace for over 100 catches and 1,200 yards this season.
The reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year has hauled in 55 catches for 642 yards and two touchdowns in nine games this season. No other player on the roster has more than 370 receiving yards.
Wilson is arguably the most indispensable player on the Jets' offense, especially given the state of the rest of the team's wide receiver room. He is integral to any offensive "success" the Jets have found this season.
If Wilson were to miss today's game, the likes of Allen Lazard, Xavier Gipson, Irvin Charles, and Jason Brownlee would all be in line for increased snaps. The fact that the Jets didn't elevate a wide receiver from their practice squad is a good indication that Wilson will play, though.
As always, we'll have to wait until 1.5 hours before game time for official confirmation. For now, however, assume that Garrett Wilson is playing today.
