NY Jets fans were left somewhat intrigued when quarterback Aaron Rodgers strongly suggested earlier this week that Haason Reddick had parted ways with his agent, Tory Dandy.
During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show this week, Rodgers referred to Dandy as Reddick's "former agent," leading to rumors that Reddick had potentially fired his agent. However, that doesn't appear to be the case.
The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported on Saturday that Dandy is still Reddick's agent, communicating with the Jets on his client's behalf. Rodgers was either incorrect, assuming, or just joking around. Either way, there has been no change in Reddick's agency at this time.
Russini went on to note that "it might be more surprising if ever plays a single snap for the Jets" at this stage. Many around the league expect the Jets to shop Reddick ahead of the trade deadline in early November unless the situation improves.
What's the latest with Haason Reddick and the NY Jets?
Reddick is expected to miss his fourth consecutive regular-season game when the Jets take on the Denver Broncos this Sunday. Missing Week 4 will increase Reddick's total fines to over $9 million dating back to his absence from mandatory minicamp in June.
Despite the ongoing stalemate, the Jets don't seem to be in any hurry to reach a resolution. Part of that is due to the emergence of second-year edge rusher Will McDonald, who currently ranks second in the NFL in sacks through three weeks.
McDonald and the Jets' pass rush has overachieved without Reddick and now in the absence of Jermaine Johnson. The Jets already had all the leverage in this situation — the success of the pass rush has just solidified that reality.
Reports have suggested Reddick would be open to a trade away from the Jets even if his new team doesn't offer him the extension he's seeking. At this point, Reddick might just want out of Florham Park.
The odds seem increasingly likely that Reddick will never play a game for the Jets. There's still time over the coming weeks for cooler heads to prevail and reach a resolution, but Reddick appears stuck in on his stance and the Jets don't seem likely to cave.
We don't know when or if the Reddick situation will ever be resolved, but what we do know now is that nothing has changed as far as his representation is concerned. Reddick's agent hasn't been fired.
