Hope springs eternal for the New York Jets with a new season less than six months aways.
Last season, the Jets had extremely high expectations after adding four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. That optimism lasted just three offensive snaps before Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in New York’s nationally-televised season-opener against the Buffalo Bills.
The Jets still had a playoff-caliber defense, but the offense was lacking any explosiveness outside of running back Breece Hall as inconsistency under center with backup signal-callers Trevor Siemian, Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle (a trio that combined to go 6-10) led to another year without a playoff berth.
The Jets have the NFL’s longest drought without a postseason appearance heading into the 2024-25 campaign. You have to go back to the Rex Ryan/Mark Sanchez days to find New York’s last postseason trip, when the Jets were on the doorstep of the Super Bowl but lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2010 AFC Championship game.
However, there’s still hope for the future and oddsmakers are believing in the Jets hype with Rodgers set to return to a roster that is in win-now mode.

New York Jets 2024 Playoff Odds
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Jets are slight favorites at -135 ($100 bet wins $74.07) to make the AFC playoffs, which is an implied probability of 57.45% that New York snaps its 13-season drought.
However, the Jets have tough competition in the AFC East as the Buffalo Bills (-300) and Miami Dolphins (-175) are bigger favorites to be in the postseason.
Being the third-favorite in the division means the odds say the Jets are most likely to reach the playoffs via a Wild Card berth. New York is +235 ($100 bet wins $235) to win the AFC East on DraftKings Sportsbook, an implied probability of just 29.85% that New York will capture its first division title since the Chad Pennington-led squad won it in 2002.
A-Rod in the mix for MVP
Despite attempting just one pass in his inaugural season as a Jet, Rodgers, who will turn 41 years old in December, is among the top-half of the DraftKings Sportsbook odds board to be named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player for the 2024-25 season.
Rodgers is 12th on the odds board to capture his fifth career MVP award at +2000 ($100 bet wins $2,000).
The Jets beefed up its protection of Rodgers by signing eight-time Pro-Bowl tackle Tyron Smith to a one-year deal and inked former Baltimore Ravens guard John Simpson to a two-year contract. In its group of skilled position players, New York added longtime Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams to pair with 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson.
