As the NY Jets prepare for their Week 4 matchup with the Denver Broncos today, the ongoing Haason Reddick saga continues to be the dark cloud hanging over the organization.

Reddick's extended absence hasn't put too much of a damper on the team's recent success. The Jets are winners of their last two games including a 24-3 beatdown of the New England Patriots on primetime in Week 3.

All the while the Jets' pass rush has exceeded expectations without Reddick and now without Jermaine Johnson following his season-ending torn Achilles. Will McDonald and others are proving the Jets might not need Reddick.

Of course, it would be nice to have one of the best players on the roster on the field for Sunday. Unfortunately, that isn't going to happen.

Is Haason Reddick playing today?

The Jets will be without Reddick for the fourth consecutive week in today's Week 4 game against the Broncos. There was some optimism that the two sides would be able to reach a resolution during the Jets' 10-day break this past week but nothing ultimately came to be.

Reddick has now accumulated over $9 million in total fines between his minicamp, training camp, and regular-season absences. It's reached a point where many expect Reddick to never actually play a game for the Jets.

Rumors suggest the Jets could look to shop the former All-Pro pass rusher before the trade deadline in early November, and reports indicate he would be open to it. At this point, Reddick might not even demand a new contract from a new team — he might just want out of Florham Park.

The good news for the Jets is that their pass rush has stepped up in Reddick's absence. Will McDonald currently ranks second in the NFL with five sacks entering today's game. His breakout has softened the blow of Reddick's holdout.

That said, Reddick was the biggest acquisition for the Jets this offseason and one of the biggest of the Joe Douglas era. The optics of trading for a star player seeking a new contract and then not giving him said contract isn't very good, regardless of the external factors that have been out of their control.

The Jets would prefer to have Haason Reddick on the field. It remains to be seen if that will ever happen, but as far as today's game is concerned, it's another week without Reddick.
