Is it over? Has it finally happened? Is the Aaron Rodgers saga coming to an end for the NY Jets? Well, that depends on who you want to believe.
NFL insider Trey Wingo is reporting that the Jets and Green Bay Packers have agreed to a trade for Rodgers with Wingo saying it's "done." Numerous Jets players have begun to share their reactions to the report on Twitter.
The likes of Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, Mekhi Becton, and others all seem to believe Rodgers is headed to Florham Park.
But hold your horses. Although Wingo was the first to report Rodgers' visit with the Jets last week and he, for all intents and purposes, has been on top of Rodgers news, his report is being disputed.
Both NFL Network and ESPN have since come out and said that nothing has changed on the Rodgers front. Adam Schefter says the Jets remain "cautiously optimistic," but that there is no trade agreed to just yet.
Wingo beat Schefter and the other top insiders to the punch last week. Has he done it again?
We still don't know if the NY Jets have agreed to an Aaron Rodgers trade...but they might have
So what do we know? We know that the Jets and Packers remain in discussion about a Rodgers trade. As of earlier today, neither team was reportedly aware of what Rodgers' decision would be.
We also know that the Jets have at least explored contingency plans with the team reportedly "wanting" Jimmy Garoppolo before he signed with the Las Vegas Raiders.
The fallback options for the Jets are dwindling with Garoppolo and Mike White now off the market. The Jets need this. They need Rodgers to make a decision β and they need it quickly.
Stay tuned for future updates on the ongoing Aaron Rodgers saga. This is a developing situation.
