4. NY Jets target: J.C. Tretter, C

The Jets are very happy with the offensive line they've constructed over the last three years and are prepared to enter the 2022 season with the current crop of starters they have now.

Don't expect the Jets to make any major changes. That doesn't mean the opportunity to upgrade isn't available, though.

Longtime Packers and Browns center J.C. Tretter remains a free agent after he was surprisingly released earlier in the offseason. Tretter would be an instant upgrade over the incumbent Connor McGovern if he were to be signed.

Again, it's highly unlikely the Jets explore this scenario at this stage. It's more likely Tretter signs on with a contender like the 49ers. But in terms of remaining free agents who would immediately start for the Jets, Tretter fits the bill.

3. NY Jets target: K.J. Wright, LB

If the Jets are going to sign a notable free agent this summer, the chances are that it'll be a linebacker. Perhaps my favorite remaining target for the Jets is veteran K.J. Wright.

Wright spent last season with the Las Vegas Raiders after a solid decade with the Seahawks, during which he crossed paths with current Jets head coach Robert Saleh. That connection could go a long way as Wright searches for his next destination.

Even as he approaches 33-years-old, Wright has proven that he could still play at a high level. He finished 2020 as PFF's seventh-highest-graded linebacker and still ranked top-25 this past season.

The Jets could really use another veteran linebacker on their defense, and Wright would be someone who could immediately step in as a starter if signed. This is an addition the Jets should definitely explore.
