8. George Fant, OT

Another high-profile offensive lineman who remains unsigned is George Fant. Fant has spent the last three seasons with the Jets, so his connection to the team is obvious.

A year ago at this time, Fant was coming off a dominant 2021 season and was the subject of extension rumors. One injury-riddled season later, Fant is still looking for work.

The former Western Kentucky standout is still only 30 years old and, if healthy, has shown that he can play at a high level. It's unlikely the Jets would look to bring him back for a starting spot, but it's possible he would be considered as a high-end swing tackle.

Fant is likely looking for a better opportunity, however. Still, if the Jets suffer an injury or two, it wouldn't be shocking to see them phone up an old friend for some help.

7. Leonard Fournette, RB

The Jets are clearly in the market for running back help, given the team's continued pursuit of Dalvin Cook. If they are unable to land Cook, perhaps the Jets pivot to another veteran free agent.

Leonard Fournette may be on the downswing of his career, but he might be able to provide some value as an experienced depth option. His history with Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, dating back to their days together in Jacksonville, doesn't hurt either.

Fournette is probably best utilized as a short-yardage, third-down back at this stage. He's a very capable receiver and an above-average blocker, although he's no doubt lost a step or two.

Cook is clearly the top running back target for the Jets, but Fournette makes sense as a contingency plan if they miss out and still feel the need to add depth behind Breece Hall.
