The NY Jets might not be able to make as many high-profile free-agent additions this offseason as they have in recent years, but they're still keeping tabs on a number of the top free agents on the market.

The Jets will be players in free agency, with positions like safety, wide receiver, and the offensive line expected to be potential targets, but their pool of potential signings isn't limited to the guys who are already slated to be free agents.

Every year, we see a number of notable players released prior to free agency due to cost-cutting measures. These so-called "cap casualties" add to the free-agent pool and could turn out to be steals for their new teams.

Which potential cap casualties could the Jets target? We take a look at nine possible targets for the Jets.

9. NY Jets target: Brian Allen, C, Los Angeles Rams

Connor McGovern is a free agent this offseason, meaning the Jets could be looking at a new center for the 2023 season. If that's the case, they should be keeping a close eye on the Los Angeles Rams.

Rams center Brian Allen is a potential cap casualty for the team this offseason as the Rams look to shed salary cap space. Allen has been a pretty reliable center when on the field, but injuries have held him back.

The former fourth-round pick started 16 games in 2021, but he was limited to nine games in 2020 and just seven last season due to a knee injury. His 74.8 Pro Football Focus grade ranked 10th among all centers in 2021, his only full season as a starter.

Any team that signs Allen will be taking a chance on his health, but at just 27 years old, Allen could be a younger, cheaper replacement for McGovern. The big question mark is his injury history.
