The NY Jets lost their 10th consecutive divisional game in Week 11 falling to the Miami Dolphins by a final score of 24-17. They haven't won a game against an AFC East opponent since the final week of the 2019 season when they defeated Matt Barkley and the Buffalo Bills backups.
But on the plus side, the Jets weren't blown out this week. And the defense held their opponents to under 30 points for the first time since Week 5. Progress.
Joe Flacco got the start for New York and he did an admirable job keeping the Jets in the game. Still, it wasn't enough to score the win as the Jets fell to their lowly rivals.
Let's take a look at a few studs and duds from today's game.
STUD: Joe Flacco, QB, NY Jets
The Jets handed the reins of the offense over to Joe Flacco in Week 11, much to the chagrin of those who were looking forward to another game from Mike White.
But to his credit, Flacco did his part on Sunday. The veteran quarterback finished 24-of-39 for 291 yards, two touchdowns, and one turnover (a red-zone fumble in the first half).
Flacco wasn't special on Sunday, but he executed the offense and moved the ball when the Jets needed to. A costly turnover (that wasn't exactly his fault), a pair of missed field goals, and defensive struggles kept New York from winning this game.
But as a whole, Flacco made the Jets look smart in their decision to start him. His reliable play helped players like Elijah Moore (more on him in a moment) find their footing.
Was he amazing? Not necessarily. But he took over the starting QB job a few weeks after arriving and was a competent quarterback. That's all the Jets could have really asked for.
