Football is back! The NY Jets are just 24 hours away from kicking off the 2023 NFL preseason in the Hall of Fame Game against the Cleveland Browns.

Neither team is expected to play their starters, and even key backups might be limited, but that doesn't mean there will be a shortage of intriguing storylines and players to keep an eye on.

The Jets have a number of interesting roster battles taking place this summer, and those competitions will take center stage on Thursday night. There are a few very compelling narratives to follow in tomorrow's game.

Let's take a look at five Jets players you should be keeping tabs on in Thursday's Hall of Fame Game.

5. Joe Tippmann, C, NY Jets

Many expected Joe Tippmann to be a plug-and-play starting center when the Jets selected him in the second round of this year's NFL Draft. That doesn't seem likely at this stage.

Tippmann has been working exclusively with the third-team offense and doesn't appear to be a part of the center competition between veterans Connor McGovern and Wes Schweitzer. He does have an opportunity to change that, however.

Tippmann is expected to receive plenty of playing time in Thursday's game, especially with McGovern sitting out. That should give the rookie a golden opportunity to climb up the depth chart and force himself into the conversation for the starting job.

The Jets seem to prefer a veteran center snapping to Aaron Rodgers, but Tippmann will have every chance to change the team's plans if he can put together an impressive performance on Thursday.
