2. Will Mekhi Becton or George Fant start at left tackle?

Of the four questions on this list, this one feels like it has the most obvious answer. The Jets haven't officially announced who the team's Week 1 starting left tackle will be.

The assumption dating back to the offseason has been that the incumbent George Fant would retain his role at left tackle with the returning Mekhi Becton swapping to the right side of the offensive line.

Again, the Jets haven't confirmed that, although they have insisted that they already have a plan for the position. But at this stage, it would be pretty surprising if anyone other than Fant was declared the starting left tackle.

The veteran stepped in for the injured Becton last season and put together easily the best year of his NFL career. He was legitimately one of the best pass-block left tackles in the NFL.

Based on merit, it's hard to argue that Fant doesn't deserve to be the starter. Becton was very good as a rookie, but he's coming off a major knee injury and there are still plenty of questions surrounding his status with the team.

Fant was too good last season to consider moving him back to right tackle, a position he struggled at in 2020. While the Jets haven't made anything official, it's safe to say we know the answer to this question.

George Fant will be the Jets' Week 1 left tackle. We should officially receive confirmation come training camp next month.
