4 pending NY Jets free agents who have earned a new contract
By Justin Fried
The NY Jets haven't had the luxury of extending many of their players in recent years. In fact, that's something general manager Joe Douglas has been criticized for in the past.
The team's lack of homegrown talent has resulted in few extensions over the last half-decade or so. However, perhaps the recent re-signing of defensive end John Franklin-Myers could be a sign of things to come.
Prior to Franklin-Myers, the only two players to receive midseason extensions during the Douglas era had been tight end Ryan Griffin and long snapper Thomas Hennessy.
This past offseason saw the team bring back players like Vyncint Smith, Daniel Brown, Josh Adams, and Bennett Jackson, but none of those players remain on the active roster.
Extensions have been few and far between for the Jets, but that could change this offseason.
The Jets have a host of players on their roster who are set to be free agents in the offseason. Plenty of roster turnover is to be expected, especially with the Jets currently sitting at 2-7.
But not all of those players are set to depart in the offseason. Let's take a look at four pending free agents who have earned new contracts.
