4 free agents the NY Jets should pursue from Super Bowl teams

3. NY Jets target: C.J. Uzomah, TE, Cincinnati Bengals
The Jets are expected to be heavily involved in the tight end market this offseason. But while many have their eyes on free agents like Dalton Schultz or Mike Gesicki, another player could be of interest.
Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah put together a career year in 2021. After missing nearly all of the 2020 season due to a torn Achilles, Uzomah returned this season and served as a vital part of the Bengals' revamped offense.
The 29-year-old finished with 49 catches for 493 yards and five touchdowns, all of which were career-highs. He was a reliable safety blanket for Joe Burrow and the perfect complement to the likes of Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd.
The Jets just so happen to be in the market for a player like that.
Now, given Uzomah's age and lack of top-end production, they'd likely be able to get him for cheap. And there's honestly every chance he returns to Cincinnati this offseason.
But Uzomah is one of those tight ends in the second or third tier of free agents that could be worth a swing, especially if the Jets plan to further supplant the position in the draft.
He isn't the most exciting option, but Uzomah's blend of high-character traits and modest production make him an appealing target nonetheless.
