The NY Jets will likely be looking for a new quarterback again in 2025, as the poor play of Aaron Rodgers has led them to a 3-9 season and another regime change coming to town. Once again things are looking quite glum in Florham Park.

There is still no clarity over who will be the starting quarterback in 2025. Rodgers is at the end of his career, and there's a chance the Jets won't be bad enough to pick one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft. Even with that unfortunate reality close, there are options out there that could help the Jets improve upon their 2024 nightmare.

Andy Vasquez of NJ.com ranked eight possible Week 1 starting quarterback options for 2025. Tyrod Taylor, currently the backup, was at the top of the list, while Pittsburgh Steelers No. 2 signal caller and former Bears top pick Justin Fields placed behind him.

Expected top draft picks Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward rank third and fifth, respectively, on this list. Browns QB Jameis Winston came in fourth place, while a Rodgers return was in sixth. Rounding out this eight-quarterback list are Jets third-stringer Jordan Travis and Vikings standout Sam Darnold.

Even if the Jets draft a player like Ward, Sanders, or Jalen Milroe in the 2025 NFL Draft, it seems like Taylor will likely enter the season as the starting quarterback. No matter what the plan is for this team, 2025 seems like another season that will be spent getting flattened at the bottom of the AFC East.

Fields represent a very intriguing option. With the Steelers likely to retain Russell Wilson for the next few years and the former top pick's play having shown major improvements since his days with the Bears, there could be a market for him as more than just a garden-variety backup quarterback,

Rodgers being that far down on the list illustrates just how much bloom has come off the rose. Now 41 years old in the middle of the worst season of his career, retirement is seeming more likely than ever before for the future Hall of Fame quarterback. Who would want him after this nightmare season?

The Jets have been down this rebuilding road before, especially when it comes to starting a veteran placeholder as they did during the Josh McCown season in 2018. The Rodgers era has been a failure, and this is how the Jets need to go about picking up the pieces in the near future.
