- New York football is a disaster

As the NY Jets begin their search for a new head coach this offseason, a couple of former players could be on their radar. The Jets have already been widely connected to former cornerback and Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, but Glenn isn't the only former Jets player on the market.
Former Jets tight end and current head coach of the UFL's St. Louis Battlehawks, Anthony Becht, is expected to garner interest from NFL teams, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Becht has already interviewed for the vacant head coach position at West Virginia.
The longtime Jets tight end has made waves in the coaching world and is widely seen as a future NFL coach. He could be viewed as a possible dark horse candidate for the Jets' job this offseason.
The Jets have been connected to a variety of names, ranging from Mike Vrabel to Arthur Smith. But with Becht, Glenn, and even Rex Ryan as possible candidates, it's becoming increasingly likely the Jets go with a familiar name as their next head coach.
Other NY Jets news:
Mason Graham declares for the NFL Draft
The 2025 NFL Draft may not be considered the best quarterback class, but there should be no shortage of talented players atop most teams' draft boards. One such player is Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham, who officially declared for the NFL Draft on Tuesday.
Graham is widely seen as a possible top-five pick in next year's draft and has been one of the most popular targets for the Jets in mock drafts. He's expected to be a top option if the Jets are not in a position to draft a quarterback.
Graham earned second-team All-American honors in 2023 and finished the 2024 season with 45 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks. The box score numbers don't paint the full picture — he's as dominant as any player in college football.
The Jets could be in the market for defensive line help, and pairing Graham with Quinnen Williams would form one of the best interior defensive lines in the NFL. He's a name to keep an eye on as we inch closer to the NFL Draft.
New York football is a disaster
The Jets and Giants have had their share of struggles in recent years, but nothing compares to what has occurred in the 2024 season. This has been the worst season in the history of New York football.
The Jets and Giants have combined for a record of 5-21 — a .192 winning percentage. That's on pace for the worst combined record in New York football history.
The closest comparison is the 1976 season when the two teams combined for a record of 6-22. That was Joe Namath's final season with the Jets. It's been a difficult decade for both franchises, but somehow this season has been the worst.
The last year the Jets and Giants both finished with a winning record was 2010. Barring a few unexpected victories to close the season, this year will go down as the worst in New York football history.
